Thanks, George. George lives at West Brooklyn, near Avonport, King's (?)
County. Probably this salamander was relocating itself to find a place
appropriate for wintering. Our salamanders are not freeze-tolerant and thus
must get somewhere below the frost-line, or in someone's basement? Jim

Subject: Yellow-spotted salamander

Hi Jim,

Just to let you know that this afternoon (12 October) as I was walking along
my driveway in the rain I observed a 9 inch long yellow-spotted salamander
also walking along my driveway. Since Margaret would soon be returning in
our car, I moved said beast to a hopefully safer environment. Always nice to
see these beautiful beasts, particularly so at this time of year.

Cheers,

George
