Hi All
This afternoon being so nice BB and I went to see what
we might find on a favorite flood plain.
We weren't disappointed.
First we saw woodcock ( 6 ). They seem to have just
moved in. The ground has become soft and they left
their white markings.
Also wood ducks - about 6 in the little ponds. Really
nice sounds they make.
A pair of red tails hawks flew off from close to the
ground. I would persume they were hunting red
squirrels which are very plentiful there - prehaps 10
in all. The crows gave them an escort.
Deer were plentiful also - maybe 6 - tails at least.
They have made a remarkable comeback in the last few
years and are almost as plentiful as before the
coyotes arrived.
A couple of times a ruffed grouse took off with lots
of noise. And lots of smaller birds up in the trees.
Have a nice thanksgiving day
Paul
