I was hoping = the winds would be strong east for longer. I went to Big I. at noon = today. Maybe I should have gone earlier but it was wet before that. The = winds had died out and ther were sunny periods. No wind blown birds, but = I did have a young CASPIAN TERN in the big salt marsh on the point by = the blinds. There was also a LAPLAND LONGSPUR along the first part of = the causeway. Other birds in number were Great Blue Heron-25 Bonaparte's Gull-150 Common Tern -37 Black-bellied Plover-10 Semipalmated Plover-38 Greater Yellowlegs-3 Lesser Yellowlegs-1 Sanderling-12 White-rumped Sandpiper-20 Dunlin-22 Semipalmated Sandpiper-3 Surf Scoter-175 Northern Gannet-30 There were also 2 Red-necked Grebes , 1 Horned Grebe, 1 Red-throated = Loon and I flushed 4 Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrows trying to get closer = to the shorebirds on the big saltmarsh. Counting the access road as part = of Big I. I had 7 species of warbler although I did not spend much time = looking for woodsy birds. Most numerous ware Blackpoll-25, and Myrtle = -30. There were Nashville-3, Parula-3, Black-throated Green-3, Chestnut = -sided and Common Yellowthroat at one each. Juncos were also in good = numbers.=20 A Golden Plover (American) seen on Sat. Sept. 30 was not = re-discovered today. Also on Sat. were Hermit Thrush-6, Magnolia, Palm = and Black and White Warbler, a single Black-headed Gull and a Brown = Creeper. Both days I had about 55 species in 3-4 hours birding. ------=_NextPart_000_0172_01C6E67B.F2C01BC0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2900.2963" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton = NS<BR>B0K=20 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR><A=20 href=3D"mailto:kenmcken@pchg.net">kenmcken@pchg.net</A></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2> Todays storm did not = develop a=20 great deal in Pictou Co.
