Dear All, Oct 1, 2006 I just keyed out, using Nearctic Diptera, a small frail fly (A186) that I at first glance thought would be a Dixidae, but it turns out to be a Tipulidae. The end point, after many uncertain forks, was Phantolabis lacustris (Alexander). Does anyone know this fly ? The A2 vein is nearly as long as A1 and has an unusual profile; at first gradually bending from A1, then bending away abruptly and finally bending toward A1. Both veins reach the wing margin independently. Long fine hairs on the trailing edge of the wing are somewhat longer than the femora are wide, at the widest point. Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
