I saw the same thing in Woodstock, New Brunswick,  twenty years ago only =
the bird was an Osprey.  The bird spread its wings and made it to shore =
but the fish was still too large to drag up on shore - we thought it was =
a large bass, which were in the river at that time.
While we were canoeing the next year above Woodstock we saw an Eagle =
drag a large bass up on shore.  It spent a couple of days near the dead =
fish.

paddling to shore after capturing a prey that was too heavy to carry =
off.  The observation was crica 20 years ago in Cape Breton.
