Hi everyone! Here's my story...While on my way to the cottage I spotted a large green caterpillar on the highway, I immediately pulled over, and yes, stopping traffic, I picked it up and put it in a plastic container I had in the car. When I arrived at the cottage I took a few photos and put it back in the container for the night with the intension of setting it free the next morning.Well to my surprise when I checked on it a couple of hours later, it had made a web like tent around itself. What to do??? By the next morning the tent (cocoon??) was much thicker. So what should I do? Do I keep it? Or should I break the tent and let it go? It's still moving around inside. If I do keep it,where would be the best place to put it? I would appreciate all the advice I can get. I have attached my webshots site with pictures of it...also other pics taken yesterday Sept 8th.Oh, and I think it is the Luna moth caterpillar. If it is not could someone ID it for me.
