--Boundary_(ID_qoZZZly7AYpshBWPXR8SpQ) Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Hi NatureNS friends- Back in Hfx today after a wonderful summer. The "bookends" were two weeks in rural Cumberland County in June and two weeks on Seal, Cape Light and Bon Portage. Will write up the bird and plant reports soon, but wanted to let you know that BPI had several Prothonatary Warblers, as well as a smattering of other warbler species. Luc Berrigan was a great help with the warblers, as every minute he had free from the banding station he was out staring at the bushes!.Thanks, Luc! Among the hundreds of Dowitchers at the Salt Water Pond, which now has a quite extensive feeding area, one stood out as a Long Billed Dowitcher. It said a high single noted "Keek" when it flew- quite different from S-b Dowitchers. We had Buff-breasted Sandpiper on the west side of BPI (Claire Diggins and I saw and heard one on Cape Light on Wed and Thurs. Wonder if it was the same one? Johnny and Sandra were on also, and may know.) Several Peregrines were hunting along the shores. Lots (more than twenty) White-tailed Deer on Bon Portage. The Raspberry patch is gone (run-out) and so it seems, has the Canadian Yew (Taxus canadensis). A lot of alders and rose bushes have died out along warbler alley, too. I did not get on the island last year at all- the only year I've missed since 1984. It was wonderful to see (and smell) the Leach's Storm Petrels again! A full report some time next week. Cheers, Joan --Boundary_(ID_qoZZZly7AYpshBWPXR8SpQ) Content-type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> <html> Hi NatureNS friends- Back in Hfx today after a wonderful summer.
