Venue and Facilities
People's Summit events will be happening all
over the city during the week of June 10 to June 17. In order to make
things a little easier for you we have focused many of our activities in
one area of the city which we have dubbed the Green Zone. The Nova Scotia
Community College, (Halifax Campus), 1825 Bell Rd., has graciously
offered us space in their building for the
week.
The Community College is fully accessible and offers a wide array
of spaces for events, ranging from workshop spaces in classrooms, to a
140 - seat Auditorium. The People's Summit Alternative Media Centre and a
People's Summit Coordinating Office will also be located
at the College.
As well, we have the grounds around the Community College for
theatre skits, food venders markets, concerts, etc. A People's Park! We
hope to provide you with a diverse program of activities to fill your
week. Included in the outdoor portion of the Green Zone is the
South Commons (the triangle of land between
Trollope St. and Bell Rd.).
Some People's Summit events will be located around the city at
galleries, theatres and at Saint Mary's University and Dalhousie
University campuses. The daily schedule in the program (available at all
downtown locations) will provide you with the details of exactly where
the events are located.
The Community College is fully operational from September through
June, and has graduated 15,000 students since 1950. The College offers a
wide program of training courses with an emphasis on local community
development. The People's Summit offers its most heartfelt thanks to the
College, especially Phillip Davison (Vice Principal), for all their work
in making the People's Summit Green Zone come to life. Have a great week!
