Over 17 editions the magazine covered many topics, including fair trade, green economics, organic farming, sustainable forestry, eco-tourism, alternative transportation, Third World debt, alternative energy and sustainable lifestyles. The Sustainable Times magazine won a Nova Scotia Environmental Award in 1998, and in 2000 was praised by Project Censored, a U.S. group committed to under-reported stories and the news that didn't make the news.
