The First Baptist Church in Amherst was established in 1809 and it still remains an active congregation. The following list of death records is compiled from several sources. The main source is the death notices published in its occasional magazine called The Reflector. This serial began in 1897 and it ceased publication around 1900. It was briefly revived in the late-1950s, but it no longer consistently listed death notices of members and adherants.

I have extracted all of the deaths listed in thosee issues available at the NSARM library collection, at the Cumberland County Museum and Archives, and at the Atlantic Baptist Archives. I am unaware of any additional, publicly available issues. The unusually high number of deaths listed in 1898 is because issue "B" listed all of the Church members who had died in the previous year.

The other sources consulted are the two published histories of the Church:

MacSwain. History of the Amherst Baptist Church (Amherst: Acadian Printing, 1979)

These published histories include a few scattered death notices, particularly for office holders (e.g. Deacons). While certainly incomplete, they partially fill the gap caused by the unavailability of the original records. Note that deaths of ordinary members are not usually documented.
